Landlords Clare Wood and Martin Wood have built the inn around a simple idea: serve excellent food, support local suppliers and create a pub where people genuinely enjoy spending time.

Situated on Swan Lane in Barnby, the Swan Inn has become well known for its fish dishes, earning a strong reputation for seafood across Suffolk and Norfolk. Alongside seafood, the menu also celebrates field food, including well cooked steaks and comforting chicken dishes, offering something for everyone at the table.

Local produce plays an important role in the kitchen, with ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers wherever possible. Seafood is supplied by respected Lowestoft fish merchants Whitemans Fishing, Coastal Cuisine and Silver Darlings, ensuring freshness and quality. Fruit and vegetables are provided by Pavilion Fruit & Veg in Beccles, supporting local businesses and keeping flavours seasonal.

Since taking on the Swan Inn, Clare and Martin have welcomed guests from Barnby, Beccles and Lowestoft, as well as diners travelling from the city of Norwich and across the wider Suffolk and Norfolk area. Their hands on approach, combined with a focus on honest cooking and friendly service, has helped the Barnby Swan Inn become a place people return to time and time again.
